Red Ribbon Week at JME

We had a very exciting week celebrating Red Ribbon Week and pledging to be drug free. All classes signed a red ribbon pledge chain link. All of the chain links from each class were joined together and hung in the lunchroom for everyone to see. Everybody wore their red ribbons each day so they could have a chance to win a prize. During the morning announcements, a name was drawn from each homeroom. If the student was wearing their red ribbon, they could go to the office to receive a prize. Also, students drew posters for Red Ribbon week. A winner was announced on Friday from each grade level at our Red Ribbon Rally.

Red Ribbon Week!!!

Can you believe it is already time to celebrate Red Ribbon Week? We will be celebrating next week with the following activities.

 A Poster contest using the theme "The Best Me is Drug Free" or "I'm Drug Free and Proud".

Creating a JME Drug Free Pledge Chain which will be on display next week in the cafeteria.

Everyone will wear a Red Ribbon every day next week. Students will have the opportunity to win a prize if they are wearing their ribbon. We will call student names next week to come to the media center to claim their prize, if they are wearing their red ribbon!

On Friday at 1:00 we will have a Red Ribbon Rally in the gym. We will announce the winners of the poster contest at that time.

Friday will also be a free dress down day for the students as long as they are wearing a red shirt.

September Guidance Lessons

September has been a busy time. Kindergarten students are listening to a story about best friends and drawing a picture of their best friend. First and second grade students are discussing teasing and picking on people. We are discussing how we should be treating our friends and classmates. Students in 3rd - 5th grades have watched a video about Bullying and discussed the video. At this time, we also have ITBS testing taking place in fourth grade.

We are looking forward to October! There will be many fun activities happening at JME and we are so excited about them. I'll let you know about some of them now. We have the fall festival and report cards! Also, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week!  

Welcome Back!

I would like to welcome everyone back to Joseph Martin Elementary. This is my first year as a guidance counselor and I am so excited to be here! I have many fun and exciting activities planned for this school year.
